Basic Torment
It's been almost week of the most basic torment.
I started Monday hoping for the best
But then the shadow of my past comes back to haunt me.
I tried to ignore the soulish beckoning,
But the devil has a devious masterplan . . .
And I couldn't escape.
Tuesday was much more difficult
Now with the devil beside me. . .
Reminding me of what kind of person I am
Imprinting me with feelings that I thought
Were already lost at sea.
Wednesday was such misery.
There was he.
Taunting.
Yet even an armlength seems a mile away.
Never touching.
Yet the fantasy is there . . .
But there is an invisible wall.
And ofcourse
The magic code of ethics
Hanging over my head.
Thursday was an icepick
That has burst my bubble of arrogance.
Three days of undrank coffee -
Three days of heart palpitations -
It was the most basic of torments . . .
Only to find out that I was only assuming nothing.
Damn it . . .
Tip of the Iceberg
It's been a two weeks after the first day of classes, and so far, I'm still breathing. My advisory class may be the rowdiest of the four sections, but I love them. I think I will have a swell time this year.
Teachers have been complaining about their noise, but I don't really mind. I know that their behavior is just the tip of the iceberg, and I know that in the final analysis, my St. Augustine class would be the best 5th grade class this school year. With a little motivation and with a lot of love, they would be more than manageable - they'd be great.
I'm looking forward to a great 2009-2010. I know that I shouldn't expect a lot from these kids, but I know their potential. All I have to do now is to tap in their potentials and make them the best of what they can be.

Jacob Black Rules!!!
Impatiently Waiting For New Moon
OH . . . MY . . . _ _ _!!!
As you noticed, I couldn't finish my first sentence. I stared, with my mouth agape when I saw the official preview of New Moon - the sequel to Twilight. I am not an Edward fan. . . more of a Jacob fan if you would recall from some of my previous blog entries. I cannot wait for the film because now, with Jacob and his big muscles, I would surely enjoy every moment of it.

Who Needs Limewire?
I am not really a computer-savvy chick. I don't know how to maximize the use of the internet nor do I know the basics of replacing a printer cartridge and installing programs. So far, I still am learning. I don't want to be way behind technology, right? Today, I discovered a far better way of downloading MP3s. I thought that Limewire was the solution for all the songs that I want to search - I was dead wrong!!! There is a site called Evilshare and Media Fire. Both are excellent sites. Through these sites, I was able to download MP3 albums for free. Try it. You just might like it!
To start, I want to share an album worth downloading. Try downloading Lady Gaga's album - The Fame for free. just click on this link and you're set : http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?njji2myttnw

Skipping Summer
You know what’s weird? It’s already April and summer was supposed to be here a few weeks back. It has been consistently raining since last week, and what freaks me out is that this is the first summer I’ve experienced to have rain almost everyday. It feels that it isn’t summer yet. Or maybe there won’t be a summer this year. It looks like our country has totally skipped it, and now it is rainy season.
I don’t know if I would feel relieved. Yes, I dislike the heat and the sun, but, supposedly, it should be summer, and so far, all I have experienced is rain. Though I prefer rain than the sun, I am a worried because rain isn’t really a normal thing especially if we are supposed to experience heat and the sun during summer season.
The rain has kept me still waiting for that ridiculously high temperature that I dread, but it still hasn’t come yet. Perhaps summer is late? Or maybe this year, we would just skip summer? I am a bit scared about the whole thing actually. It isn’t normal to have rain everyday in summer. Weird.
This is perhaps the effect of global warming. Our seasons go haywire. Scientists predict that in six years the world will totally feel the devastating effect of global warming. Seasons will change, and we will experience extreme temperatures. I am scared of this happening. I live in the Philippines where there is no snow. If it snows here, people will die.
Right now, we are experiencing a slight freaky change in nature’s course. Sooner or later, we may have to face its bigger impact. Can we still help save the environment? Maybe, maybe not. But we have to try our best even if it is too late.
Dreading Summer
I may be the only person who dreads summer. Unlike everybody who loves the sun so much, I don’t. It is not that I abhor the sun, it’s just with the intense heat it brings, I experience difficulty in breathing, like I’m being smothered by warm invisible hands, eager to take my breath away.
Summer hasn’t always given me this kind of negative feeling. When I was young, I used to anticipate the end of classes so I could enjoy summer vacation playing with my cousins and friends. Now, with the temperature several degrees above the normal summer I used to enjoy, I would rather deprive myself of that precious Vitamin D and keep myself safe from dangerous ultraviolet rays. I don’t get people who would choose to bask in a sort-of-earthly-hell-kind-of-sun, wearing a skimpy bikini while men ogle at their oh-so-perfect-cellulite-free bodies. Maybe it’s just their way of showing off? I really don’t get it.
Summer means increased cost of electric bills and also with the water bills. Summer means skin rashes and asthma attacks; sunburn and forest fires. It means heat waves and heat strokes; drought and famine; skin disease from contaminated pools and worse, skin cancer from that dreadful sun.
No amount of positive explanation could ever convince me that summer is actually a happy season. How could I enjoy this season with all of this happening? Bikinis and break from work are not reason enough to mask horrors of what summer could bring. I don’t mean to be pessimistic, but if global warming wasn’t as worse as it is now, then maybe summer would be more tolerable and everybody would actually enjoy it.

The Best Birthday Gift Ever
I just turned thirty and unlike the past years, I didn't celebrate this year. However, I still received a couple of gifts - a pair of Nike Air, a black Penshoppe shirt and a short poem from a student. The last was the one I liked the best. Let me share it with you.
Teacher Rhosel
by Paola Eunice Basinillo
Teacher Rhosel teaches us in Grade Four
She makes us want to learn some more
The way she teaches is different but exciting
It makes English look so very inviting.
She's a great teacher, one of the best
And she's good in coaching for the Sportsfest
Hard lessons become so easy
And she doesn't say anything cheesy.
She's very cool and nice too.
And she can do stuff that I never knew
She says funny jokes and has lots of stories to tell.
And her voice? Loud and clear as a bell.
That poem makes THREE-ZERO worthwhile. I'm glad that I have inspired someone. I guess this poem just tells me that I really am called to be a teacher. Awesome! I hope I become an inspiration to more students and that they would love English the way that I do too.

Overcoming Aging
Wouldn't it be just weird if you were born looking like an 80-year old, and as you grow, your physical features become young? That is the curious case of Benjamin Button. I happened to see the trailer of this film and found the story very intriguing indeed. Imagine that? Instead of going through the normal and painful process of aging, you simply overcome it and age inversely. That kept me thinking. F. Scott Fitzgerald must be a very brilliant writer to have ever imagined such curious case.
I just turned three-zero (30) a few days ago, and wondered how it would be like to not age. I am lucky because I don't exactly look my age. Some people who don't really know me would comment that I look like a college student. One friend asked me if I could share the fountain of youth that I've been hiding. People want to know my secret, but I don't have any. It's genes I guess. I hope that when I'm 40, I would look ten years younger.
Today, there are a lot of anti-oxidants and supplements that supposedly helps defy skin aging. Some people even go to dermatologists to have botox shots. Other well-off people would even consider plastic surgery just to look young. Everybody wants to be immortal somehow and many seem afraid to physically deteriorate. But aging is really inevitable. The only thing we could do is to learn how to age gracefully. It really doesn't matter how old you look. What matters is that with age, comes wisdom. It really would be pathetic to have aged but have accomplished and learned nothing; to have grown old but have loved and cared for no one; and to have matured but have gone spiritually nowhere.
Life is short. I sometimes contemplate about how my life would end. Yes, having to think of death is indeed morbid, but with this in mind, I live my life like it's always my last day. But I also live life to the fullest in Christ because of a promise. A promise, that one day, beyond this physical realm, I will live with no fear of death itself, because I have already overcome.
Age has a limit that renders us powerless because it signifies that there is an end. However, the day will come, when I don't need to worry about aging, or even aging inversely as with the case of Benjamin Button. Because on the day that I overcome, aging has no power over me anymore.
