Day 13 - A Song That Is A Guilty Pleasure

First up, I would like to define what guilty pleasure is, because honestly, when I thought about this, I had to reorient myself about the meaning of this phrase so that I could name a song that suits the description. Accordingly, guilty pleasures are the little things that make life just a wee bit better. Of course they're also the things you're not supposed to like, for example, a greasy quarter pounder cheeseburger, or perhaps Jason Behr of Roswell or a pint vanilla ice cream. But if these pleasures make us happy, what do we have to be guilty about?
Think Twice by Eve 6 is a song that is a guilty pleasure. Why? Well, it just reminds me of Jacob Black and how hot he is. The lyrics is like what Jacob would sing to Bella, you know? And since I'm Team Jacob, every time I hear this song, it just reminds me of him. I'm not supposed to think about Jacob Black because he is a fictional character from a book. My husband need not to be jealous about him either because he's fiction. But when I think of Jacob Black, I just totally lose it. It's like I have a highschool crush on someone who doesn't even exist. Gee.
Think Twice
by Eve 6
When all, Is said, And done, And dead, Does he, Love you, The way that I do? Breathing in, Lightning; Tonight's for fighting. I feel, The hurt, So physical. Think twice before you touch my girl. Come around I'll let you feel the burn. Think twice before you touch my girl. Come around, come around, No more. Think twice before you touch my girl. Come around I'll let you feel the burn. Think twice before you touch my girl. Come around, No more. She spreads, Her love; She burns me up. I can't, Let go, I can't get out. I've said, Enough, Enough by now. I can't let go; I can't get out. Wait 'till, The day, You finally see, I've been, Here waiting patiently; Crossing, My fingers, And my t's. She cried on my shoulder begging please. What is it you really want? I'm tired of asking. You're gone; I'm wasted. When I, Showed up, And he, Was there, I tried, My best, To grin, And bear, And took, The stairs, But didn't stop at the street. And as we speak, I'm going down. 'Cause she spread, Her love, And burned me up. I can't, Let go; I can't get out. I've said, Enough, Enough by now. I can't let go; I can't get out. Think twice before you touch my girl. Come around I'll let you feel the burn. Think twice before you touch my girl. Come around, come around, No more. Think twice before you touch my girl. Come around I'll let you feel the burn. Think twice before you touch my girl. Come around, No more....

Day 12 - A Song From A Band That You Hate

I have never liked 90's rock - specifically heavy metal, especially those men sporting long, wavy and perhaps lice-infested hair. Yuck!!! I never understood why highschool boys during that time were so into heavy metal. It was the worst kind of music for me, with all the screaming, and with those devilish emblems painted on their faces or hanging from their necks. Sheesh!!!
The brand that I hated the most was Guns N Roses. And their song Welcome To The Jungle is perhaps my number 1 most hated song too. My classmates used to bully me and sing that song to me. Those creeps!!! At first I never understood why they kept on singing that horrendous song, but then I learned the reason, and my life has been miserable during all those years in highschool. Sad story, I know. Ah well . . .

Day 11 - A Song From Your Favorite Band

Dashboard Confessional is my favorite band. I learned about them when I was copying mp3s from my in-law's computer. I saw that there were many songs from this band that I have never heard about. I got curious about the group so I decided to copy their songs anyway. So when I heard "Screaming Infidelities" and also "Turpentine Chaser", I was hooked! I bought an MTV:Unplugged DVD featuring them and all I can say is that I instantly fell in love with the lead singer, Chris Carraba. Their song, Stolen, made me fall in love with the group even more. I can basically relate to most of their songs, and I think that even though Dashboard Confessional is not that popular, they will still be my favorite band.
Stolen
by Dashboard Confessional
We watch the season pull up its own stakes And catch the last weekend of the last week Before the gold and the glimmer have been replaced, Another sun soaked season fades away You have stolen my heart You have stolen my heart Invitation only, grand farewells Crash the best one, of the best ones Clear liquor and cloudy eyed, too early to say goodnight You have stolen my heart You have stolen my heart And from the ballroom floor we are in celebration One good stretch before our hibernation Our dreams assured and we all, will sleep well sleep well(x4) You have stolen You have stolen You have stolen my heart I watch you spin around in your highest heels You are the best one, of the best ones We all look like we feel You have stolen my You have stolen my You have stolen my heart

Day 10 - A Song That Makes You Fall Asleep

Don't get me wrong, I love Westlife, but this song of theirs really turns the snooze button on. No matter how good looking Shane, Kian, Nicky and Mark are, even the video to this song makes me fall asleep. The Rose was originally sung by Bette Midler, and I can just imagine how much boring it is when she sang it. Not all Westlife songs are boring. This one tops it all though. No wonder it didn't reach the number one spot. It made people fall asleep.
The Rose
by Westlife
Some say love it is a river that drowns the tender reed Some say love it is a razor that leaves your soul to bleed Some say love it is a hunger an endless aching need I say love it is a flower and you its only seed It's the heart afraid of breaking that never learns to dance It's the dream afraid of waking that never takes the chance It's the one who won't be taken who cannot seem to give and the soul afraid of dying that never learns to live When the night has been too lonely and the road has been too long and you think that love is only for the lucky and the strong Just remember in the winter far beneath the bitter snows lies the seed that with the sun's love in the spring becomes the rose

Day 09 - A Song That You Can Dance To

Well, I'm not a very good dancer, so fast beat songs won't work for me. I remember one time when I tried dancing. It was a terrible experience. I have never felt so embarrassed in my entire life. I felt that I was the lousiest dancer in the group. I usually sing in presentations because singing feels so natural for me. One time, I tried to dance just to have a different experience. . . to my regret. Even if I practiced hard to get all the steps, I was always out of tempo. Dang! The song that I tried to dance to was Cruel Summer by Ace of Base. It was really a cruel summer for me . . .
Cruel Summer
by Ace of Base
Hot summer streets and the pavements are burning I sit around Trying to smile, but the air is so heavy and dry Strange voices are saying (ah, what did they say?) Things I can't understand It's too close for comfort, this heat has got Right out of hand It's a cruel, (cruel) cruel summer Leaving me here on my own It's a cruel, (it's a cruel) cruel summer Now you're gone You're not the only one It's a cruel The city is crowded, my friends are away and I'm on my own It's too hot to handle, so I gotta get up and go, and go It's a cruel, (cruel) cruel summer Leaving me here on my own It's a cruel, (it's a cruel) cruel summer Now you're gone You're not the only one It's a cruel, cruel summer (leaving me) Leaving me here on my own It's a cruel, (it's a cruel) cruel summer Now you're gone You're not the only one Cruel Now don't you leave me Now don't you leave me Well don't you leave me Come on, come on Now don't you leave me Now don't you leave me Well don't you leave me Come on, come on It's a cruel, cruel summer (leaving me) Leaving me here on my own It's a cruel, (it's a cruel) cruel summer Now you're gone You're not the only one It's a cruel, cruel summer (leaving me) Leaving me here on my own It's a cruel, (it's a cruel) cruel summer Now you're gone You're not the only one It's a cruel, cruel summer It's a cruel, (it's a cruel) cruel summer It's a cruel, cruel summer It's a cruel, (it's a cruel) cruel summer It's a cruel summer

Day 08 - A Song That You Know All The Words To

Stay (I Missed You) by Lisa Loeb and Nine Stories is a song from the movie Reality Bites. Ethan Hawke was the one who directed the song's video. It's one of those songs that I really took the time to memorize. When this song first came out, I was impressed because I think Lisa Loeb's voice is unique, and the song was also different from all the other pop songs during that time. I think I may have sung this song several times in front of many people. It's been more than ten years, and I still know the lyrics.
Stay (I Missed You) by Lisa Loeb and Nine Stories
You say I only hear what I want to. You say I talk so all the time so. And I thought what I felt was simple, and I thought that I don't belong, and now that I am leaving, now I know that I did something wrong 'cause I missed you. Yeah yeah, I missed you. And you say I only hear what I want to: I don't listen hard, don't pay attention to the distance that you're running to anyone, anywhere, I don't understand if you really care, I'm only hearing negative: no, no, no. So I turned the radio on, I turned the radio up, and this woman was singing my song: lover's in love, and the other's run away, lover is crying 'cause the other won't stay. Some of us hover when we weep for the other who was dying since the day they were born. Well, well, this is not that; I think that I'm throwing, but I'm thrown. And I thought I'd live forever, but now I'm not so sure. You try to tell me that I'm clever, but that won't take me anyhow, or anywhere with you. You said that I was naive, and I thought that I was strong. I thought, "hey, I can leave, I can leave." Oh, but now I know that I was wrong, 'cause I missed you. Yeah, I miss you. You said, "I caught you 'cause I want you and one day I'll let you go." You try to give away a keeper, or keep me 'cause you know you're just scared to lose. And you say, "Stay." And you say I only hear what I want to.

Day 07 - A Song That Reminds You Of A Certain Event

When I was 15, a friend invited me to this thing called Drill Night. It was some sort of a dance party where Reserve Officers Training Corps invited girls to the dance as their "dates." I was invited to the dance, and I felt like I was someone important. As the night went deeper, slow songs were played. It was an opportunity for the boys to slow-dance with the girls they brought to the party. My date asked me to dance. Several songs were played and one that stuck in my memory was the song Again by Janet Jackson. Until now, the song brings me back to that night --- Drill Night 1994.
I heard from a friend today And she said you were in town Suddenly the memories came back to me in My mind Chorus: How can I be strong I've asked myself Time and time I've said That I'll never fall in love with you again A wounded heart you gave, My soul you took away Good intentions you had many, I know you did I come from a place that hurts, an' God knows how I've cried And I never want to return Never fall again Making love to you oh it felt so good and Oh so right Repeat Chorus So here we are alone again, Didn't think it'd come to this And to know it all began With just a little kiss I've come too close to happiness, To have it swept away Don't think I can take the pain Never fall again Kinda late in the game And my heart is in your hands Don't you stand there and then tell me You love me Then leave again 'Cause I'm falling in love with you again Hold me, hold me Don't ever let me go Say it just one time Say you love me God knows I do love you again

Day 06 - A Song That Reminds You Of Somewhere

When I was 15 years old, I went to Baguio City with my parents. It was my first time to travel far away from home. It was a pretty long ride, about 7 to 8 hours or so, and during that ride, I heard the song "Vulnerable" a lot of times. Actually, I think I was able to memorize the lyrics of the song just by hearing it over and over again. I think it's the most popular song during that time and when I was in Baguio, I think I developed LSS for the song. LSS means Last Song Syndrome, that's when you hear the song over and over again in your head. So when I hear this song by Roxette, it reminds me of Baguio City where I got to listen to it over and over again.
Roxette - Vulnerable by
Vulnerable by Roxette
Everywhere I look I see her smile Her absent-minded eyes She has kept me wondering for so long How this thing could go wrong. It seems to me that we are both the same Playing the same game But as darkness falls this true love falls apart Into a riddle of her heart. She's so vulnerable, like china in my hands She's so vulnerable and I don't understand I could never hurt the one I love She's all I've got But she's so vulnerable, Vulnerable. Days like these no one should be alone No heart should hide away Her touch is gently conquering my mind There's nothing words can say. She's coloured all the secrets of my soul I've whispered all my dreams But just as nighttime falls this vision falls apart Into a riddle of her heart. She's so vulnerable, (She's so vulnerable) like china in my hands. She's so vulnerable, (She's so vulnerable) and I don't understand. I could never hurt someone I love She's all I've got But she's so vulnerable Vulnerable. She's so vulnerable, (She's so vulnerable) like china in my hands She's so vulnerable (Oh so vulnerable) and I don't understand I could never hurt the one I love She's all I've got But she's so vulnerable, (She's so vulnerable) like china in my hands She's so vulnerable (Oh so vulnerable) and I don't understand I could never hurt someone I love She's all I've got But she's so vulnerable, Oh so vulnerable, yeah. She's so vulnerable My baby she's vulnerable. She's so vulnerable, oh yeah. Oh so vulnerable, she's all I got. She's so vulnerable, oh yeah. She's so vulnerable. She's so vulnerable.

Day 05 - A Song That Reminds You Of Someone

When I was in college, I wasn't very much into alternative music. I usually listen to pop songs, mostly sung by boy bands and groups of girls. Then one fine day, I was introduced to someone who shared to me his taste in music and my life had never been the same again. I remember that this person lent me a tape of his favorite songs. I remember that there were Sarah McLachlan songs and Rage Against The Machine, but one song that I listened over and over to was this song from the original soundtrack of 10 Things I Hate About You. It's called Your Winter by Sister Hazel. Every time I listen to this song, I remember him. I remember Michael. I remember the guy who watches the same TV shows that I like ( Felicity, Dawson's Creek, Ally McBeal), who buys from the same record store where I buy, and who has the same friend whom I consider important. We had many things in common actually, but I was a jerk, and I pushed him away. When I look back to that time, I can't help but wonder what would have happened if I let him in. Sadly, I wouldn't know. We're not even friends anymore.
Your Winter
by Sister Hazel
The grey ceiling on the earth Well it's lasted for a while Take my thoughts for what they're worth I've been acting like a child In your opinion, and what is that? It's just a different point of view What else can I do? I said I'm sorry, yeah I'm sorry. I said I'm sorry , but for? If I hurt you then I hate myself Don't want to hate myself, don't want to hurt you Why do you chew your pain? If you only know how much I love you, love you Chorus I won't be your winter I won't be anyone's excuse to cry We can be forgiven I will be here The old picture on the shelf Well it's been there for a while A frozen image of ourselves We are acting like a child Innocent and in a trance A dance that lasted for a while You read my eyes just like your diary, oh remember, please remember Well, I'm not a beggar, but what's more If I hurt you, then I hate myself, don't wanna hurt you Why do you chew your pain? If you only knew how much I love you I won't be your winter I won't be anyone's excuse to cry We can be forgiven I will be here

Day 04 - A Song That Makes You Sad

I Will Remember You by Sarah McLachlan is a song that makes me sad. Whenever I hear this song, it just breaks my heart because it makes me feel so sentimental. Sometimes, when I listen to this song, I just space out and my soul goes into this private place where it gently weeps.
I Will Remember You
by Sarah McLachlan
I will remember you Will you remember me? Don’t let your life pass you by Weep not for the memories Remember the good times that we had? I let them slip away from us when things got bad How clearly I first saw you smilin’ in the sun Wanna feel your warmth upon me, I wanna be the one I will remember you Will you remember me? Don’t let your life pass you by Weep not for the memories I’m so tired but I can’t sleep Standin’ on the edge of something much too deep It’s funny how we feel so much but we cannot say a word We are screaming inside, but we can’t be heard But I will remember you Will you remember me? Don’t let your life pass you by Weep not for the memories I’m so afraid to love you, but more afraid to loose Clinging to a past that doesn’t let me choose Once there was a darkness, deep and endless night You gave me everything you had, oh you gave me light And I will remember you Will you remember me? Don’t let your life pass you by Weep not for the memories And I will remember you Will you remember me? Don’t let your life pass you by Weep not for the memories Weep not for the memories
